'Hunters' Canceled at Syfy After One Season (Exclusive)

It's diversion over for Syfy's Hunters.

The NBCUniversal-possessed link system has wiped out the straight-to-arrangement adjustment of Whitley Strieber's smash hit novel Alien Hunter, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

The 13-scene dramatization was first placed being developed in October 2013 and grabbed to arrangement in September 2014 without a cast appended.

From Universal Cable Productions and Gale Anne Hurd, the dramatization featured Nathan Phillips and Britney Oldford with 12 Monkeys' Natalie Chaidez connected as showrunner. The arrangement took after a Pennsylvania investigator turned-suspect Flynn Carroll (Phillips) who, after his significant other strangely disappears, is resolved to demonstrate his blamelessness and discover her. His hunt prompts confirm that hazardous outsider cells are living among us, and the U.S. government has a mystery association set up to obstruct their terrorist endeavors.

Seekers bowed to little pomp in April, drawing 540,000 aggregate viewers and was panned by pundits (it has a zero rating on Rotten Tomatoes). Through 12 scenes, it has arrived at the midpoint of an inauspicious 316,000 viewers. Monday's season finale will now serve as an arrangement finale.

Seekers is an uncommon miss for Syfy generally. The cabler has concentrated intensely in the previous couple of years to rehash itself with an attention on more customary sci-fi toll along the lines of basic most loved Battlestar Galactica. Syfy's late examples of overcoming adversity incorporate basic dear 12 Monkeys (restored for a third, yet littler season), The Magicians, The Expanse, Z Nation, Killjoys and acquisitions Dark Matter and Wynonna Earp. (A choice on Wynonna Earp has not yet been resolved.) Up next, Syfy has collection Channel Zero due in October and Incorporated, set for the fall.

For Hurd, in the interim, the productive maker will stay in business with the NBCUniversal family - where her Valhalla standard has a unit bargain at UCP. Up next she has USA Network dramatization Falling Water.
