Eating more fruit and vegetables to prevent pneumonia

According to a new study conducted by Swiss scientists published in Nature Medicine shows that eating vegetables and many fruits can prevent pneumonia, reduce the risk of asthma.

Experiments on rats by researchers from the University of Lausanne found that a diet containing fiber more effective help prevent pneumonia and avoid asthma. Besides fiber diet (most vegetables and fruits) and other benefits for health, such as reducing the risk of heart disease and cancer.

Dr. Benjamin Marsland research leader said over the last few decades the figures related to lung disease has increased significantly marked in developing countries, while the amount of dietary fiber in these countries decreases. He added that the results of the discovery at this time can be interpreted in the context of the epidemic by showing that while the amount of fiber in the diet decreases the risk of other inflammatory diseases will increase.
